Covid-19 Timeline Analysis
Covid-19 Timeline Analysis
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are near someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth. The virus spreads more easily indoors and in crowded settings.
I used PowerBI, SQL, and spreadsheet tools to examine the spread of Covid-19 data over the time period from January 1, 2020, to October 13, 2022, for this project. This analysis provides information on the daily number of reported cases, deaths, and recovered cases.
Data Analysis sequence:
Ask: What is the problem trying to be solved? What information I need to convey through my visualizations? How visualizations should be structured in order to make it more understandable? These questions were asked in order to proceed with analysis.
Prepare: The dataset was downloaded from the Covid-19 data resources website https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus which was then stored and organized in the analyst's computer system. The accuracy of the data was confirmed, and any bias or inaccuracies were examined. Descriptions of each data source were generated.
Process: The data was processed for additional analysis using spreadsheets and SQL at this step, which involved cleaning, filtering, sorting, and transformation of data. Along with this, a Change log document is also maintained which details all the processes and alteration the data has been gone through.
Analyze: In this step, PowerBI was loaded with data for analysis. This analysis contains three major aspects i.e. Daily number of Cases, Daily number of deaths and Daily number of recovered cases.
Share: In this phase, Analysis report is prepared and presented to stakeholders. (In my case, it is being uploaded on my portfolio and presented to recruiters.)
Act: In this phase, using conclusions derived by analysis and recommendations from analysts, required actions are taken, new strategies and plans are formed in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
